Every now and again one needs a reset. Could be mind, body or soul, or all three. In my case, all three were long overdue a reset after being on the road since November 2017.
Life has taken me to unexpected places in the intervening period, and not a few have remarked that I should be keeping a travelogue at the very least. Why stop at that, though? A burgeoning friendship convinced me to start (co)writing again, and blogging naturally follows — or precedes?
Self-hosted publication has had its apogee. Whilst it is more about the writer than the tool or platform, Medium might yet breathe life into my hitherto sporadic efforts.
To reset, here are a selection of images captured on the iPhone XS, mostly unprocessed. They are from a recent trip to Italy and Switzerland, 5–19 August 2019, with my sister, brother-in-law and my 16-month old niece. It was a reset in its own way, the first time any of us had travelled with a small person who was beginning to make her mind known in very vocal ways. Suffice it to say that family trips will never be the same again. It was a good bonding experience with Niece, however, and it proved that if you can handle a child, you can pretty much handle anything life throws at you. I am grateful for that, and for the opportunity to rediscover the meaning of loyalty, trust and integrity, virtues that are all too lacking in both personal and professional spheres these days. More on on that in future posts.
