As much as people have been squawking about how problematic and dramatic Netflix's Indian Matchmaking is, I feel it provides westerners with a glimpse into the economic and ultimately collectivist nature of marriage in many parts of the world. This is the bland, benign pressure of heteronormativity backed by a multi-billion dollar industry.
