Hello from Chiang Mai! It’s been a busy few days, and this week’s briefing is more of a recap and update than anything else.
As part of our Seapunk Midsummer Studio kickoff, we were asked to introduce ourselves and share what we’re in the middle of in our lives, and what we think the world is in the middle of, so I’ll try to structure this post in that vein.
and I are in the middle of preparing for the presentation of our paper, Imaginary Decolonization: Seapunk & The Search For Authentic Southeast Asian Solarpunk Futures for Chiang Mai University’s Decolonizing Southeast Asian Studies conference later this week. We hope to clean it up even further for eventual publication.I’m in the middle of fleshing out more details for a novel-length work based on a short story I submitted to the Summer of Protocols’ Ghosts in Machines contest, titled The Ghost Dancer’s Protocol. Expect Balinese legong keraton dance moves as steganographic ciphers, humans as living encryption and resistance against the Machine, and ghosts in machines that never forget.
I’m in the middle of connecting with Pak Gita’s Gamechangers community, a vibrant Indonesia-based community of thinkers and doers united in their love and visions for Southeast Asia.
